LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this session you will be aware of everything you need to plan and prepare you, your crew and your boat to cross Biscay. You will be aware of some of the finer details of this stretch of water, where to find the information you need and feel more confident to do it.

First big offshore experience?

That's the way to treat Biscay. Don't be daunted, this is you adding to your sailing skill set and taking steps towards bigger voyages, Embrace it! Some anxiety is natural, but preparation and foresight will help you as much as a following wind.

Thinking differently

A different approach to day or coastal sailing is required. The right mindset, which we can develop, helps you avoid trouble later on. I'll share my planning process with you, often with crew onboard who have never done anything like this, so some good tips to engage them and make it enjoyable for all.

What to expect

As well as ways to avoid potential problems in the first place, and reducing their impact if you encounter them, I'll share some special places to make landfall or visit on the other side. Remember, we'll be looking at real life passages you can relate to, the session will be adapted to what you tell me about your experience and boat, and you can ask questions!
